INTERPOL is the world’s largest international police organization, with 187 member countries. Created in 1923, it facilitates cross-border police co-operation, and supports and assists all organizations, authorities, and services whose mission is to prevent or combat international crime. INTERPOL is now looking for two qualified candidates to serve as Senior System and Network Operations Technician in the Network User Support Sub-Directorate, which is part of the Information Systems and Technology Directorate.

Under the authority of the Head of Operations, the Senior System and Network Operations Technician operates and supervises all the Organization's information systems 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

He liaises on an ongoing basis with NCBs , Regional Bureaus and international organizations with regard to the use of the equipment, telecommunications networks and services provided by the Organization.

He supervises the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) probes on the Organization's systems, plays a proactive role, takes the initial steps according to the procedures in place, refers incidents to the appropriate team and ensures they are followed up.

He also staffs the General Secretariat's switchboard (outside office hours and at weekends).

Duties

1.
Operate and supervise the telecommunications networks and associated services: e-mail, access to the various databases, dashboard, image transmission, Internet and Intranet, security (VPN).
2.
Management of information-security incidents – risk assessment and appropriate decision-making.
3.
Provide support for outside users (NCBs, Regional Bureaus, etc.) on the day-to-day use of all their types of equipment and services offered by the Organization, and basic Helpdesk service for internal users.
4.
Supervise the central computer systems (ICIS, ASF, AGORA, SIGA, AFIS) outside office hours and at weekends, carry out operation checks.
5.
Provide technical support to the IMEST and IRT teams.
6.
Staff the switchboard and receive faxes and messages (IPSG) outside office hours and at weekends.

Requirements

Training/Education required:

*
University or equivalent-level qualification in telecommunications and network engineering or general computing, possibly with additional training; alternatively, extensive experience of supervising of computer systems, security systems and networks.

Experience required:

* At least 8 years' proven experience in computer systems and network operation.


Languages:

* Fluent English essential.
* Spanish highly desirable.

Special aptitudes required:

*
Organized, ability to manage a team and take decisions, analytical skills, methodical, good interpersonal skills.
*
Awareness of systems security.

Working hours:

*
12-hour shifts performed by a team.

Miscellaneous constraints:

Working at night, at weekends and on public holidays.

Remuneration for appointment on contract: The starting salary for Grade 6 is EUR 2,684 per month for a step 1. The successful candidate may be offered appointment on a higher step depending upon professional background and experience.
